Temporary is a project that documents a series of encounters Elizabeth Blackie has made over the past year both in Sweden and the UK, exploring the beauty that emerges from the intersection of time, featuring coincidental, accidental and unexpected changes, each decayed Polaroid is evidence of a place. Elizabeth Blackie’s process is an act of collaboration with the passage of time and nature, intervening with analogue’s conventional processing and subjecting each Polaroid to various environmental factors, nature has created these ambiguous abstractions. Each Polaroid is characterised by a range of written text that is directed to different places, what once was an image of a text in a single square frame, transforms into a display of nature’s response to Blackie’s work. Framed in evidence bags, Blackie invites the viewer to see this work as evidence of place rather than a depiction of it.
